Personal Attention to Your Legal Needs
was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and is a lifelong resident of Hampton Roads.
Jeremiah graduated from Salem High School in Virginia Beach as valedictorian and was accepted into Harvard University for the following school year.
While at Harvard, Jeremiah majored in philosophy, with additional focuses in the fields of government and mathematics. He thoroughly enjoyed the rigorous, interrelated disciplines of philosophy, logic and math, and the daily practice of deconstructing complex verbal arguments into symbols and formulas. What began as an initial interest in the topics of philosophy turned into a rigorous education into the formal methods of logic and analysis, a discipline which initially helped Jeremiah to score in the 99.9th percentile on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and continues to serve him well now as a practicing attorney.
During his studies at the Georgetown University Law Center where he ultimately obtained his Juris Doctorate, Jeremiah focused on litigation and trial practice, with an interest in complex international cases. He participated as a response critic in various academic symposia on international legal issues, and placed special emphasis on extremely thorough and meticulous legal research, analysis, and writing. Jeremiah also took every opportunity to participate in oral arguments. These experiences prepared him for the research needed in complex cases as well as the fast pace of a hotly contested trial.

After law school, Jeremiah initially began his practice as a research attorney for a law firm in Virginia Beach, and was soon asked represent the firm’s clients in actual trials. Due to success early on, Jeremiah was asked to take on more complex cases. In early 2016, Jeremiah was offered a position at Robert E. Long & Associates, Ltd. where he currently serves clients in nearly every area of the law.
While successful litigation requires extensive technical training and development, Jeremiah believes that an equally important component of representation is simply the ability to listen closely and critically, and to provide individualized attention and service to each of his clients. He understands that trial practice is, among other things, a very service-oriented profession, and that clients want not only a highly-capable advocate to fight for them both inside and outside of court, but also a legal counselor to guide them through difficult life situations. As such, Jeremiah takes great pride in his highly-personalized approach to each client, and goes above and beyond to educate his clients on their legal positions so that they can make informed decisions and take an active role in obtaining the best possible outcome in each case.

While enrolled at Georgetown Law, Jeremiah had the opportunity to clerk abroad in the Supreme Court of the Philippines for the Honorable Justice Conchita Claudio Carpio-Morales. Because U.S. constitutional law often influences the Philippine legal system, Jeremiah assisted the Justice’s staff of Philippine attorneys by researching various American court rulings and academic treatises to assist in various cases, including a then-current constitutional suit which sought to limit the powers of the Philippine President. As a Filipino-American, Jeremiah is very thankful for the opportunity to have used his American legal training to help serve the country of his family’s heritage.
On the local level, Jeremiah also had the opportunity to intern with the Virginia Beach Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. He assisted the Honorable Judge Winship Tower, then Chief Judge of the Court, in formulating legal opinions on situations that had not yet been addressed in Virginia. Jeremiah was very happy at the chance to use his legal training to serve the specific needs of his local community. Also, the internship provided him with his first glance into family law, a field he has continued to find very fulfilling as a practicing attorney, as it affords him the opportunity to advise and assist clients in their most important and personal matters.
